Guild capabilities Iacta Alea Est is founded by the former raiding alliance "Highend pickup raids" (HPR) that started out on Deathwing August 2005. HPR consisted of a bunch of smaller guilds with tight bounds (same family, nationality and RL friends) Over time hpr developed a very strong organization and the core memberbase raided together for about one year. The top of HPR's career was when we downed Nefarian June 6th 2006 - the first and only non-guild raiding group to do so on Deathwing. As time passed by it was impossible to keep the memberbase high enough to continue with 40man raids due to natural playerloss. And it was impossible to recruit players with sufficient skill/gear/experience because we weren't a guild. To make us attractive for potential newcomers, forming Iacta Alea Est was the only solution. About 95% of the old HPR joined the new Iacta Alea Est raidguild and together with some reinforcements we started farming Blackwing Lair and progressed in Ahn Qiraj. Before patch 2.0.1 (the raid-killing patch pre BC) IAE reached Twin Emperors in AQ, killed Anub'Rehkan in Naxxramas and had some decent attempts at Grand Widow Faerlina and Instructor Razuvious.
After the launch of The Burning Crusade, a non-raiding period of levling, questing and regular instancing tore apart many of the raidguilds on Tarren Mill. However Iacta Alea Est held stand and sticked together and the social aspect of the guild really showed its strength. As people got ready for raiding again we started to build up teams for raiding Karazhan. We built up 3 separate teams raiding on 3 parallell raidinstances with different leaders and all 3 succeeded in putting Karazhan on comfortable farm status. When we had sufficient manpower we also started raiding Gruul's Lair and IAE's first 25 man accomplishment was killing High King Maulgar Sunday 4th March 2007. As time passed by the structure of the original Karazhan Teams got more fluctant and the guild has kept up approximately 2x Karazhan-farms per week for efficient gear-upgrades, and focus has been shifted to 25man content.
During spring/summer 2007 the heroes of Iacta Alea Est rumbled the lairs of Gruul and Magtheridon. The tier 5 dungeons of Serpent Shrine Cavern and Tempest Keep were laboriously put in ruins during the autumn and new year 2008, before we turned to the Hyjal Summit and crushed it's commander, Archimonde. On the 3rd of april Archimond had to bite the dust taking place at the same time as we progressed further into the Black Temple. Just in time before the great "summer depression" we managed to kill Black Temple's emperor; Illidan Stormrage. As most other guilds we meet some challanges during the summer of 2008. With AoC released, the Euro 2008 and the common summer vacation our progress was put on hold. Both MH and BT was farmed regularly with some ups and downs, but progressing in Sunwell Plateau proved to be to difficult since we had to recruit new players and gear them up. By the time we had enough people in our ranks we had an incomming patch called 3.0 which changed the game with new talents and big nerfs to prepare for Wrath of the Lich King. We managed to kill 2 bosses in Sunwell after the nerf, but our main goal in TBC was already reached; To kill and conquer Illidan!
As many other guilds felt, the start content of Wrath of the Lich King was a bit to easy. It did not take long before our Guild managed to clear all content. Our main goal before patch 3.1 and Ulduar was to kill and conquer Sarth x3 drakes when every thing else was on farm. This was done months before 3.1, leaving us with nothing more then some less attractive achievements.
The core of IAE, both officers and loyal players, have sticked together for an amazing period of time, several excessing 4 years.
