Time has come to update my PC. I am not that much of IT involved as I was before, so kinda got lost in the technology:

got stuck on affordable video card Smiley

1 option: 9600GSO-H5GTCD GeForce 9600 GSO PCI Express (650/1600MHz) 512MB DDR3 (256Bits) + Dual DVI + HDTV (FAN) + HDCP (around 67 EUR)
2 option: 9800GT-H5GTCD GeForce 9800 GT PCI Express (600/1800MHz) 512MB DDR3 (256bits) + Dual DVI + HDTV (FAN) + HDMI + HDCP (around 90 EUR)
3 option: suggest something not too fancy

i need a moderately good PC to play WOW, watch movies, surfing, DLing etc, as well as small involvement of Adobe work, nothing too demanding, basic work Smiley

the rest of the PC is:

Motherboard: ASUS P5Q  LGA775, Intel P45, System 1600/1333/1066/800, Memory DDR2 1200/1066/800/667, N, Graphic slot 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16, SATA 3Gb/s*6(RAID 0, 1, 5, 10), Audio 8-CH(HD), LAN Gb Atheros PCIe, Core"2 Extreme/Core"2 Quad/ Core"2 Duo/Pentium dual-core/Celeron dual-core /Celeron Processors

Processor: iPentium E7200 CORE 2 DUO 2.533G 3MB 1066 LGA775 BOX
HDD: HDD 250GB Maxtor 7200rpm 8MB SATA-II
RAM: 2x2GB DDR2 800MHz 240pin PQI
Supply: Fortron ATX PSU, FSP400-60GLN 80, 9PA4005501 Active ATX Power Supply Units, version 2.0, Active PFC, ROHS
Monitor: LG TFT W2241S 22"

I know you can think of a much stronger config and powerful, but for my current needs, and due to the fact that i have quite many money outlets atm, i wouldn't like to go into expensive combos Smiley)

2nd question is should i go for 64bit Windows version for more power (since 32bit reads only up to 3GB RAM), or not, since i will have problems with some programs not supporting 64-bit?

Thanks if you have the time to give an answer or 2 Tongue

P.S. Furyz, i don't DL Hentai and don't need 1TB of space on HDD Smiley)

9800gt would be my choice, or an ati 4850 (round-up from Q3, 2008: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/gaming-graphics-charts-q3-2008/benchmarks,30.html)

I use vista 64 bit myself just because it supports up to 32gB ram, I have an illegal vista 64bit ultimate edition for you if you are interested. Programs might not use 64 bit yet but that has to come over time:p atleast your windows is faster.

the 9800 gt is ofc much better then a 9600 gs but If it's mainly for wow go for the best price buy imo, no need to spend loads of euros on imba thus expensive gfx cards just for wow. Using a 8600gt 512mb on a laptop and it works just fine so you don't need much to play wow decent unless you insist on having everything on max Smiley

To me PC hardware is buying what you need, things change so fast and everything is "outdated" after a year so just go for the price bargains unless you have specific needs Smiley

i would go for a ati 4850 if the price is 2 high, the 4830? the 9800 serie is rebranded from 8800 serie. So is pretty 'old' tech-wise.
and i would suggest an Seasonic S12II-380HB or  Enermax MODU82+ 425W or Corsair VX450W powersupply, these are much better noise wise and has higher efficiency.

Your're using your old hd? if you're getting a new one, pls consider 6400AAKS from western digital (640 gb) is fast and quiet.

I wouldn't buy an enermax because they are super expensive, but on the other hand you don't want any crap cheaper then ~60 euro's. I myself have a nexus, almost as good as enermax but a little cheaper. A few months ago I had a Corsair, but it died pretty soon (like numerous others did before).

About hdd's Samsung just launched a brandnew serie: the F1, it's one of the most silent drives and still affordable.

i have to miss out on some suggestions, since some of the power supply models are not to be found in the offers yet locally, we do have a small delay in deliveries of newest tech goods as a small country Tongue

But thanks for the info, i changed some things in the configuration and will complete it probably in 2 days. I am moving to a new apartment, so had to change the PC as well Smiley) I could wait and order some of the parts, but I don't like waiting 2-3 weeks for something, more of an impulsive type of person - i want it now, i go get it now Smiley)

Cya ingame!
Cheers!
